The history of the router dates back to 1980 where a research staff from the Stanford University named William Yeager created the device. He was commissioned by his boss to network the computers in the different departments in the University. Since then routers have played a significant role in the world of computing.

computer networks, which is the common scenario, connect only to a single network this is called a one-armed router. Although there are other types of routers that are being used today they only serve one purpose -- networking.
Wireless routers also give extra benefits. Routers also have firewall capabilities. A firewall is a sort of barrier that permits
unauthorized communication prevention in a computer network. They can link and connect more than one computer. In addition, wireless routers also encrypt signals that provide security against hackers.
